About the event

Join us in welcoming our special guest instructor, Sandra Owen:nakon Deer (Bear Clan, Mohawk) from Haudenosaunee Territory. She is a mother and grandmother, an educator, writer, artist, traditional story teller and a Mohawk language instructor. She is co-author of "Mother Earth's Way," a resource guide for early childhood educators via McGill university. She is currently working on a Ph.D as well. 

In this informative workshop, Sandra will discuss:

  • Stories from Indigenous Cultures

  • History of Corn vs. today's Corn

  • Explore global culinary, artistic and ceremonial uses

  • Hands-on Crafts with Corn (dolls, jewelry, baskets, mats...)
