Medicine Drum & Rattle Making Workshop

In this hands-on Medicine Drum & Rattle Making Workshop, participants will be guided through the process of creating their own traditional-style hand drum and/or rattle. More than simply making an instrument, this experience invites you to slow down, work with intention, and develop a personal relationship with what you are creating.

THE MEDICINE DRUM

The process of making a drum can be a deeply meaningful and transformative experience. As you stretch the hide, lace the drum, and bring its form to life, you are invited to hold an intention, prayer, or blessing for yourself, your family, your community, or someone in need. The completed drum becomes a personal instrument for music, meditation, prayer, ceremony, reflection, and connection. Its heartbeat-like voice can remind us of our relationship with the Earth and the living world around us.
